Why email
email is the most robust protocol for digital communication. USENET is still live and kicking, i use it to pirate anime. each dispatch sent through email is far more powerful for engagement, there are no intervening algorithms manipulating its exposure (beyond problems of email server deboosting/spamfiltering, which is a non-issue as substack’s servers are considered trusted providers), every post being sent directly to each of your readers, beautiful—
it’s incredibly hard to censure, with data decentralized by design: think about it, each email is a self-contained dispatch hosted in every recipient’s inbox. they can take away your mailing address but you can just move providers: it’s the mailing list of recipients that’s your actual lifeforce—it’s an extremely simple universal csv export: just a comma dilineated list of email addresses…
Export daily they can’t stop you. If they delete your substack, just move to mailchimp. If mailchimp throttles you, move to gmail. with a mailing list, you can go anywhere. And post anything. I LOVE EMAIL!!
Why substack
Substack is cool bc it makes it a trivial setup in a blog-like format, and also duplicates the emails to the live web for easy sharing (which makes it easily tied to RSS, another most robust medium in reducing internet content to a pure text feed) and as a centralized archive; it’s not robust in this sense, as a website-blog, but it’s a useful tool of convenience.
and YES IK its a cringe infocommercialist web-gentrified carpetbagging podcaster geek bitches retard space, the information-goons of Silicon Valley only let it get away with reviving the blog in the robust form of RSS-emails because it introduces email paywalling (HUGE eSin, DO NOT TRY THIS)…
